Embossing creates a raised effect on selected areas. The process requires the use of two dies: one that is raised and one that is recessed. The dies fit into each other so that when the paper is pressed between them, the raised die forces the paper into the recessed die and develops the embossed image. An embossed pattern is lifted against the background, while a debossed pattern is recessed into the surface of the paper.

Not to be confused with embossing, debossing applies force on the paper forcing the material down from the paper surface. An embossed pattern is raised against the background, while a debossed pattern is recessed into the surface of the paper.

Foil stamping is the use of pigment or metallic foil to paper where a heated die is stamped onto the material, making it stick to the surface leaving the design of the die on the paper. We can join foil with embossing to generate a more striking 3D image. We offer 16 different colors of foil stamping.

Spot UV creates a glossy effect, giving the card a textured look. Spot UV is a screen printed process where the varnish is applied only to selected areas. The spot gloss varnish is often applied over pictures or graphics to improve them. It's also effective when the background is solid black and the Spot UV layer creates a shape, pattern or text. A spot UV layer over some text is also possible but less noticeable and may need moving the card in the light to see the effect. We do not suggest applying spot UV in registration with small text or fine lines.

Letterpress is a printing procedure that dates back to the mid-15th century. Most letterpress printing presses are huge cast iron machines operated by hand. The engraved artwork is inked and then pressed onto paper to produce a debossed image. Each piece becomes a work of art that engages the senses and communicates chic and handcrafted quality that can’t be matched by any other printing method. Our letterpress cards are individually hand printed.
